PFY Fundraising Campaign
Empower Tomorrow's Leaders: Support Our Youth on the Journey of a Lifetime!
High school students from Central Washington are eligible to participate in this year's Pilgrimage For Youth (PFY) Trip. Along with providing a reference from a teacher, school counselor, or community mentor, each student submits an essay on a social issue that is important to them. Please read below to learn more about the importance of PFY and how you can assist the Odd Fellows Ellensburg Lodge #20 in supporting local youth on this life changing journey.

What is the Pilgrimage for Youth?
Started in 1949, and including youth from around the world, Pilgrimage for Youth (PFY) is for those interested in world affairs, international relations, and exchanging views on education, the environment, and any other issue important to human beings. This unique educational program brings high school students around the world to study and participate in discussions concerning world affairs, as well as making new and lifelong friends.
The nearly two weeks in July are mainly in New York City, and involves exchanging ideas with other young people, site-seeing in New York, including the United Nations (UN), as well as surrounding places, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Washington, D.C., Boston, and Niagra Falls.
What is PFY?

While on the trip, students are required to participate in a speech contest while in New York for a chance to earn a $2,000 1st place college scholarship, 2nd place $1,000. The topic of that speech is given to students upon their arrival in New York City.

In order to qualify for this trip, students had to submit their application along with an essay on a social issue and letter of recommendation from a teacher, school counselor, or community mentor. These essays were then scored by a panel of reviewers before they were advanced to the next round of selection. The students advance past Part One of our selection process are now preparing for Part Two, where they will give a three to five minute speech at the IOOF Lodge (309 N. Pine St.) on January 11, 2026.
The students who have applied are high school students from the local, Kittitas County community, who are 16-17 years of age and who have at least one year of High School remaining. These students are also passionate about engaging with the world around them and are working to make a difference in their community.
Every donation can make a difference in helping these
students embark on this important journey.
